cPanel account typically comes packaged with a mail server, and the Mail Exchanger or MX record for the account's domain is set to the cPanel's host. You need to change the MX record for your domain if you want to use a third-party email provider such as Gmail or your self-hosted solution for your configured domain.

You can configure MX records for your third-party mail server in cPanel by deleting existing records and adding new ones.

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. Scroll down to the Domains section and click on Zone Editor.

   
3. Click on Manage to view and edit DNS records.

   
4. Click on MX to only display Mail Exchanger or MX record.

   
5. Click Delete to remove existing MX record.

   
6. Click Continue to confirm deletion of MX record.

   
7. Continue deleting other MX records if you have multiple MX record entries.

   
8. Click down arrow on the Add Record select list and click on Add ''MX'' Record.

   
9. Enter the priority and domain name of your mail server and click on the Add Record button.

   

   Priority is an integer value where mail server with lower priority value will be preferred over the one with higher priority value if you have multiple MX records.

10. Continue adding the other MX records if you have multiple mail server.
