If enabled, Windows will automatically create restore points for System Restore when there are system updates. You might even create manual restore points when making some configuration changes to the systems. Each restore points take some disk space, and over time you might want to delete the restore points to reclaim your disk capacity.

You can delete System Restore's restore points from the System protection panel. It will delete all restore points, and there are no options to exclude any restore points from deletion. Disk cleanup, however, provides an option not to delete the latest restore point.

Steps to delete System Restore's restore point in Windows 11:

  1. Launch Settings from the Search bar.
  2. Click on System on the sidebar menu.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and click on About.
  4. Click on the System protection link.

  5. Click Configure to access restore point's deletion option.
  6. Click on the Delete button.
  7. Click Continue to confirm deletion of System Restore's restore points.
  8. Click on the Close button to exit the window.
