How to configure automatic login in KDE
You normally authenticate via username and password combination to access your Linux system. Whether it's a necessity or simply for convenience, you can configure your KDE-based Linux system to log you in during system boot automatically. It could be the case if you're running a dedicated or single-user system.
This is possible if you're using SDDM as your login manager. SDDM is the default login manager in Kubuntu or most other KDE-based Linux distributions.
Steps to enable or disable autologin in KDE:
-
Launch System Settings from the Application Launcher.
-
Go to Startup and Shutdown from the sidebar menu.
-
Click on the Behavior button from the Login Screen panel.
-
Click on the Automatically log in check box to enable automatic login.
Make sure this check box is not ticked to disable automatic login.
-
Select a user from the list to enable automatic login and the corresponding session type.
-
Click Apply to save the configuration.
-
Enter your password if requested and click on the OK button.
Your user need to have administrator privilege.
