PATH environment variable is a set of folders or directories where you store your executables such as scripts or binaries. It allows you to run the executables without needing to type their full path.

You can configure PATH environment variable in Windows just for your own user or for all the users in the system. This can be done from the command prompt or via the GUI, though the GUI in this case is more intuitive and is a safer option.

Steps to add folder to PATH environment variable in Windows 11:

  1. Open Environment Variables launch window in System Properties from Windows search bar.
  2. Click on the Environment Variables button.
  3. Select whether you want to change the PATH variable just for your user or for the entire system.
  4. Click on the Edit button.

  5. Click on the New button.
  6. Enter the folder name of your new path.
  7. Click on the OK button.
  8. Click on the OK button again to activate the changes.
